Paul Northwood is a drummer and producer from Milan, Italy. He begins studying drums at the age of 7, supported by his father who is, also, a drummer. Since that time, he begins listening to some of the best music around, spacing from the GRP label, Chick Corea and Billy Cobham, to the more experimental music like Kraftwerk and Jean Michelle Jarre.
In the high school, he discovers the metal genre, and begins practicing drums to play that really intense music, and forms The Avalanche Project, an alternative metal band. Alongside the metal drumming, Paul begins experimenting with waves and filters thanks to his FM synth Yamaha DX7, an old digital synth from the GRP era. Paul plays drums in several different bands in his spare time between The Avalanche Project and his digital experiments.
After five years of good music, his main band, The Avalanche Project, splits up after their members take different musical directions, and Paul is then forced to focus on his electronic side. He adds Ableton Live to his production weapons along with Logic Pro, and he is slowly moving away from software instruments, focusing on hardware synthesizers and environmental noise sampling.
